Advances in biomaterial technology over the past three decades have led to redefinitions of the term “osseointegration” based on patients’ increasing expectations for reduced treatment time and improved esthetics and comfort. Consequently, clinical trials should ideally include objective esthetic criteria in addition to the known clinical parameters when assessing outcome parameters.
The aim of the presentation is to validate the concept of immediate implant placement and non-functional loading in the esthetically-sensitive anterior maxilla.
The lecture will provide a detailed assessment of the risk factors that should be considered when evaluating hopeless anterior maxillary teeth. Practical tools will be suggested for selecting the appropriate surgical technique in each clinical scenario.
An inclusive updated literature review as well as personal experience will be presented.
The esthetic results will be analyzed using a comprehensive index, including pink and white esthetic scores.
It will be demonstrated that anterior maxillary single-tooth replacement and non-functional loading, according to the concept of immediate implant placement, is a successful and predictable treatment modality. The PES/WES index is suitable for objective assessment of the esthetic outcome of anterior single-tooth implants.
